Functional Blood Testing
Functional blood testing goes beyond standard blood panels to evaluate how well various systems in the body are functioning. Testing panels assess blood components like red and white blood cells, hormones, enzymes, and metabolites, to detect early signs of disease, nutrient deficiencies, or organ dysfunction before symptoms appear. Early detection of conditions like insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, thyroid disorders and hormonal imbalances, allows for preventive measures, ensuring long-term health and well-being.
Normal May Not Be Optimal
Blood tests are usually done to detect abnormalities and as long as the results come back within specification they are considered to be satisfactory and no further action will be taken. For optimal health, we use tighter limits for many tests and an excursion outside these limits can give us clues that something is not quite working properly. This can then be addressed with diet and lifestyle changes with the aim of achieving optimal levels.
Testing
Packages include the price of the test, practitioner interpretation and a health improvement plan. Tests can be tailored to specific requirements if necessary, and cost will vary depending on the components tested.
Sample collection will require a blood draw which can be arranged locally for an additional cost. This will vary depending on the supplier (typically £45 - £60) and will need to be paid for separately.
